Eco Water Towers

Concept for a National Campaign in Israel: Water towers in Israel are not only symbols of the beginning of the country and the establishment of the first communities, they are also and foremost icons of a precious reserve of the communities, without survival would be impossible: water. This iconography did not change. While the communities are growing ever since, the importance of water is more stressed than ever, both in Israel and worldwide. As we are reaching the 21st century, ecological thinking and sustainable solutions are more needed than ever. Given these thoughts, we propose not to change the iconography of the water towers, but to keep that what they are: WATER TOWERS. The Water towers of the 21st century will not store water anymore, but they will work as a reminder for all of us to treat the resource water preciously and responsibly. Responsible water management does not mean not to use water anymore, but to use water saving systems, eco-filtration systems, clean technology and to show people that the resource water is not unlimited, coming out of a pipe, but from a very limited stock. The water towers shall be converted into an urban attraction, where families can meet on a daily base. Resting for the adults, playing for the kids. The kids – as tomorrows generation – will learn through the play to learn to take responsibility on the limited water resources of the country and the ecological environment. Our survival depends on this motivation and responsible actions more than ever.
